What is QuadRiot?
QuadRiot is the newest addition to the world of internet procrastination. Smrt college students pretend to be part of a democratic community, and through a few select Darwinian principles, share the best randomness on the web. The true elite will survive the queue and be promoted to the front page, but only if the collective deems them worthy through bestowing riots upon them. Got that? IF YOU LIKE IT, RIOT IT. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING FUNNY, SUBMIT IT. Simple as Jell-O Puddin' Pops.

Why did you create QuadRiot?
Well, the Internet's getting pretty crowded these days. There's so much wacky sh*t going around that it's hard to stay ahead of the curve. There really should be at least a twelve-day gap between when you see something funny and your mom or little brother does. So QuadRiot aims to keep you up on what's actually worth seeing before it ends up on David Letterman.

How many riots does a link need to get promoted?
That number will change at various times, depending on site activity. The more people are rioting, the more riots a link will need to be promoted. That’s our way of separating the crème from the crap.

How long will a link stay in the queue?
Links stay in the queue for 48 hours. If they haven’t received enough riots to be promoted by then, may they rest in peace.

What is the Bookmarklet?
The bookmarklet is the easiest way to submit a link to QuadRiot. It lets you submit links to QuadRiot from anywhere on the web. It will open the QuadRiot submit page in a new window, and we'll fill in the Title and URL for you! Half the work, twice the fun…or something like that. So try it!

Why do I need a registered .edu to join?
QuadRiot is specifically for college students, and using a confirmed .edu system is our way of making sure your parents aren’t joining to ruin all the fun.

What are tags?
Tags are words used to describe a submission, and can also be used to search for specific content. When submitting a link, enter tags that you would use if you wanted to search for that link. When you click on a tag in a link box or the tag cloud on the front page, it will give you a list of promoted links that also include that tag. If you click on a tag from the tag cloud on the queue page, it will give you a list of links in the queue that include that tag.

Why do some tags appear bigger than others in the tag clouds?
The tag clouds show the most popular tags being used on the front page or in the queue, respectively. The more popular a tag is, the larger it will appear.

Where can I see the links I’ve rioted or submitted?
Click on your username (in the top right corner) to get to your user page – there you’ll see 4 tabs all about you – rioted, submitted, promoted, and user info.

What’s an RSS feed?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XMLbased format for sharing and distributing Web content using our RSS reader, you can view up to date changes on QuadRiot.com. On many QR pages there is an RSS link, that will feed the changing information from that page, and usually refresh every 25 minutes. You can also use the RSS feeds from your profile to show your friends what you like and what you’re submitting.

What if I rioted something and I didn’t mean to?
Too bad. Plenty of people voted for Bush, and they can’t take it back either.

Can I submit something again that has expired from the queue?
No. Our system will not allow one URL to be submitted more than once. Things don't spontanously stop sucking, do they?

What happens when I report a post?
When you report a post, a notification is sent to QuadRiot administrators letting us know that we should check it out.

How do I get my school listed with my username?
Email us at help@quadriot.com with your username, .edu email address, and your school name.

What do I do if I forget my username?
Shoot us an email at help@quadriot.com and let us know what you need, and be sure to include the email address for your account.

Can I use HTML, and if so where?
Basic HTML (italics, bold, underline) can be used when making comments on existing links. If you submit a complete URL as part of a comment it will be linked automatically.
